Ground Fighting in Chinese Boxing is looked at as a real fight and not as a sport. It must take into account environments not friendly to moving on the ground in the same way one can do it on a mat or soft surface. When a real fight for life and death may involve fighting more than one person, there must be a different strategy than in grappling sports. While one will use grappling as needed, a system of priorities is developed in Chinese Boxing in all areas of study. At the least, one must become comfortable with traversing the ground, coming up, and going down. Many of the movements in the boards can be useful; certainly, “the touch” development is needed in this study.
